Psychological First Aid Skills for Social Workers

Learn skills to help help you with dealing with survivors of disasters, such as the devastating North Bay wildfires.

Psychological First Aid skills can prepare you to interact more effectively with survivors of disaster.

These skills can also increase your own personal resilience, lessen the chances of lingering post-trauma symptoms, and help you manage stress. This workshop is sponsored by the Marin Chapter of the NASW.

In this interactive presentation, you will learn specific skills drawn from both the research literature and clinical experience.

Elizabeth McMahon, PhD is the co-creator of the Psychological First Aid Skills curriculum used in training San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team members (NERTs). She speaks all over the Bay area on preparing ourselves psychological for dealing with survivors of disaster and increasing effective interventions with survivors especially in the immediate aftermath.
